Picture (c. 1948) of some of California’s proto-hippies known as “Nature Boys.” The man sitting is eden ahbez (he didn’t capitalize his name), the composer of the song “Nature Boy”, which was a huge hit for Nat “King” Cole – and has since become a jazz standard.
